I would go half and half, it made the stars much more striking.

I agree. I like the second one better. Has more "sparkle" to the star.
Second one too in my opinion. More interesting. Like your homemade boxers-have been making colorful undies for me lately out of girl's t-shirts.
My vote is the second one. I did the Christmas star and never did decide. it's in the ufo pile.
I like the same color for the center of the star....so sharp and clean-looking.
I prefer the first solution, all blue center :) It's more elegant in my opinion :)
With all the same colors in the center, I thought it was much more dramatic. The concentration of the higher contrast in the center made a bigger impact with me.
