The Latest Little Quilt
Here's the unfinished quilt. You can see - sort of - the quilting lines I've drawn on. I started sewing with dark thread..... but I'm not sure I like that. I'm almost considering hand quilting.....
All suggestions and ideas are welcome.

For me, it's the dark thread. Light thread would be fine, either by hand or machine.

Deb, I see where you're going with the dark quilting, which I do like. I think you might be happier if you used a not-quite-so-dark, but still contrasting thread, and employed a more "sketchy" type of quilting, rather than trying to quilt precisely and directly on your pre-drawn lines. As you know, it's very difficult to get perfectly machine-stitched quilting lines on a domestic sewing machine (vs. a longarm). Thread "sketching" would allow a more free style, and you wouldn't have to worry about backstitching to anchor your threads ... just keep going without lifting your needle and starting each line anew. I would practice a bit first, but I'll bet you'll like it! I'm a big believer in never ripping ... just go back in with more quilting to disguise any "mistakes" you might perceive! Can't wait to see what you do with this.
If the dark thread and the quilting lines are part of the image you have in mind... then stick with your gut feelings and finish it. But if you dont have a pattern in mind for the quilting... may I suggest a different shape in the quilting lines? I think you should try at least two lines of quilting that echo [think parallel] the shape. Quilt this way until you feel you have finished. Then you will have space and freedom to quilt in some patterns.
Hi Deb... I really like this..alot..and I like what you have drawn which does show the quilting lines you want. Unless you can see a perfect line and echo it nearly perfect, you won't be happy. Hand quilting is probably the way to go... but sketch it out first and see if you like the 'dots' hand quilting leaves. The other is embroider and maybe stitch by machine near the embroidered line.... just some thoughts..
I think perhaps thred close to the colour of the shoots, maybe even begining in the same colour getting paler as they ger farther out.I love the scetch.
